About the role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll own complex, end-to-end builds that put AI to work inside real lending workflows. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and our in-house capital experts to find the highest-leverage problems, then scope, design, build, and ship the systems that solve them. That might mean automating underwriting analysis on a hotel acquisition, streamlining draw administration on a construction portfolio, or building tooling that helps match a deal to the right lenders out of our network of 100+.

You'll measure success by what gets adopted and what it changes: faster closings, cleaner servicing, better decisions. This role is based in New York City.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across multiple builds, from first prototype to stable production.
• Build full-stack systems that deliver real value to lending teams and sharpen how we learn what works.
• Embed closely with underwriting, servicing, and capital markets teams to understand their workflows and guide adoption of what you ship.
• Scope the work, sequence delivery, and clear blockers before they become problems.
• Make smart trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality, and adjust plans to protect the outcome.
• Stay hands-on in the code when momentum or clarity depends on it.
• Turn the patterns that work into reusable tools, playbooks, and building blocks for the rest of engineering.
• Feed real-world signal back to Product and Engineering so we know where our tools shine and where they need work.
• Keep teams moving with clear communication and consistent follow-through.

Qualifications and skills

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience, including work directly with the people who use what you build.
• Track record scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environments.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Claude, Codex, Gemini, and other LLMs.
• Ability to write and review production-grade code across frontend and backend. We work in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Python, but strong engineers who can pick up a new stack are welcome.
• Ability to cut through complexity and make sound decisions quickly.
• Clear communication with engineers, product folks, and non-technical stakeholders alike.
• A habit of spotting risk early and adjusting without losing speed.
• Familiarity with fintech, lending, or other regulated environments such as finance, real estate, or insurance is a plus.
